Grazie! Gracias! Merci! Thanks!

We have had the honor of speaking to a countless number of great acts through our five years and through those years we have built relationships and bonds with many of them. To continue our celebration of our five years as a site, we wanted to share some of the kind words some of our favorite people have shared with us about us.

“One of the most fun-loving and forward-thinking blogs in the world, and run by one of the nicest guys in the business. Thank you Sal and Officially a Yuppie for getting in there so early with your support. Hopefully see you again real soon." Love from Chapel Club

"Five years, stuck on my eyes... Best thing I've seen on the internet since the panda that sneezes.” - Matthew Whitehouse, The Heartbreaks

"Sal and his peeps at OfficiallyAYuppie.com are doing an amazing job of covering fresh, creative music and the entire NYC scene! They're not too hip for the room, but definitely have hip taste." - Doug Wimbish, Living Colour

“I read www.officiallyayuppie.com every week. Sal has his finger on the pulse of both commercial and independent music and entertainment. His blog has something for everyone and his interviews are always insightful. Plus, Sal's a great dude!” – Elliot Jacobson

“Thanks for these great questions” – Mary Foresberg Weiland

“So, does this make me a Yuppie now?!” – Mickey Leigh, Joey Ramone’s brother

“Thank you for the interview. I really appreciate the interest in my project. Be well” –Ben Kenney of Incubus

“It was good speaking with you. All the best.” Ian Mackaye

“No Crap Questions” – Rab Allen, Glasvegas

Quick News

Good News - Arctic Monkeys are planning their next record. Bad News - Fans are going to have to wait to hear it. That is right, Monkey's drummer Matt Helders told BBC6 last week "We're already talking about when we can record again, but I still enjoy being on tour as well." In related news, in a recent interview with NME, singer Alex Turner expressed they would like to work with Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures) again. Homme produced the band's latest, Humbug.

Though fans may have to wait for new Arctic Monkeys, one band you will not have to wait for is Dead Weather. Jack White has confirmed a new album will be out next year.

Stone Temple Pilots have cancelled the remaining dates of their fall tour to finish out the recording of their latest record. This will be STP's first album of new material since 2001's Shangri-La-De-Da.

From one Queen to another. Lady Gaga is set to perform for her Majesty Queen Elizabeth in London at this year's Royal Variety Performance. Along with Gaga; Mika, Alexandra Burke, Michael Buble and Bette Midler are slated to perform.

Every once in a while I need to pat myself on the back. This new brought such a smile to my face and excitement, as I learned Johnny Marr, one of my favorite guitarists of all time, took notice to my review of him and The Cribs at Bowery Ballroom and posted it on his site http://www.jmarr.com/. Thank you Mr. Marr, take a look at my review HERE.

Coldpraising!

Every once in a while I have to give this blog (and myself) some credit. It is great to have people read this site from all over the Globe. Thanks to the beauty of the Internet a slew of people in the UK have been following the site and e-mailing me with some great things. Just wanted to say thanks! Also, speaking of UK readers, someone in Manchester, England saw my review of Coldplay at Hammerstein and posted it on the biggest Coldplay fan site in the world. The site Coldplaying.com featured it on their site as well as their message board. Check out the message board posting HERE

Another cool thing is the message I received from Stellastarr*'s Arthur Kremer about the site. Kremer mentioned "Hey I like the layout of your site...good job!" Some nice words of encouragement from a really awesome guy! Thanks Arthur!

And finally I am patting myself on the back for this...Who is one of the first people in the US to be writing and even interviewing Glasvegas? Oh me - that's who! Who has the free featured single of the week on Itunes this week as well as an upcoming taping of Letterman in January--Glasvegas! I told you they were going to be huge! You herd it first here on this side of the pond!

Sorry for my nerdiness but I just needed to let it out.

Move Over Perez

My close friend Charles McCants has created his own blog entitled "Do You Want Me to Seduce You". I must say his blend of social satire and eye for entertainment will not only have you in hysterics but will also question the way you look at celebrity forever. He writes about everything from hot spots in New York City to Fashion to Models to Entertainment and Music. Check it out at www.bloggingyouhard.blogspot.com.

He also commented about my blog and me as well. I must say having your friends give you such high praise is certainly something special and pretty awesome. Check out what he had to say here http://bloggingyouhard.blogspot.com/2008/05/people-i-know-that-you-should-know.html Thanks Charles!

Accolades

First it was UK Band the Editors giving me praise....Now it is a very popular New York based Music site "Brooklyn Vegan," giving my blog some respect...I did review of UK dance band Hot Chip and now they added my blog to their site telling people to check it out. "Brooklyn Vegan" is a very popular site that pretty much everyone from Rolling Stone to Spin get their info here.

You can read my review, as well as the quote they took here http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2008/04/hot_chip_played_1.html

In related news...Also be sure to check out my Verve review at www.thevervelive.blogspot.com the best Verve info site on the web!

Quick News

Coldplay have done an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone about their forthcoming record. The Magazine also does a track by track breakdown of the album as well. Check it out at http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/18915732/coldplay_at_work_on_something_different_for_upcoming

Album number four for the Hold Steady is in the Can! The album is called Stay Positive and will be released later this year.

More good news for "Yuppie!" I would like to take this moment again, to thank The Editors for featuring my review of their concert at Terminal 5, not only on their website, but on their Myspace Page as well. The band took a handful of their favorite reviews and tossed them up on the networking site. Check it out here and see what people had to say... http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=11745651&blogID=359720611

Almost Famous

The Most appropriate of all subject lines...The UK band the Editors have selected my blog and featured it on their website!!! I reviewed the band when they recently came to New York and out of all the New York fan blogs, websites, articles, reviews etc..they have featured mine exclusively on their website! Basically "With This I Think I'm Officially A Yuppie," beat out The Voice, Rolling Stone and whoever else reviewed and went to the show. Check out the article here http://www.editorsofficial.com/index.php/fanblogs/new_york_terminal_5/
