Rising Artist: Hinds
When you think indie rock, Madrid, Spain is not the first place that comes to mind. However, the four women of Hinds are about to change that mentality. The band, who have been self-releasing their music before singing to Mom & Pop, are set to embark on their first U.S. tour that will take them to a sold-out gig at Bowery Ballroom in New York and to SXSW, where they are sure to be one of the most talked about artists in Texas.
The sound the ladies make is a cross between The Roches meets Best Coast. It is unpolished, laid back, but also as vibrant as the sun. As winter exits and we begin spring, this is the music you will want to help you coast to the summer and beyond.
Quick News
The classic lineup of D Generation featuring Jesse Malin, Danny Sage, Howie Pyro, Michael Wildwood and Richard Bacchus have reformed and are currently in the studio working on a new album that will be due out later this year.
Speaking to 1X, Anderson .Paak has said that Dr. Dre is working on new music. He said: "He's working right now, doing a lot of work right now, I can't really speak on it. It was so quick [recording with Dre], 80/90 percent of what I did was used and then it was out. That's not usually the case with Dre. A lot of people who work with Dre, you're lucky if anything sees the light of day. It was a blessing to have all that stuff go to market at the pace it did. It's cool to be able to work with him at this place in his career when he's just ready to go."
Kamasi Washington spoke to Rolling Stone about the follow-up to last year's brilliant, The Epic, saying: "In my mind, I have plans for more large-ensemble stuff: doing some brass ensembles and not just things with the choir. … It's hard to say exactly; it's all in my head right now. … I've been messing around with recording myself over and over again. Like a 32-piece saxophone thing. Just for a demo, for a song. And I'm like, 'Hey, that sounds cool. Maybe it's something I want to do for real.'"
Later this month, The Rolling Stones will play Cuba for the very first time, posting the news on Twitter, they said:
Bjork is currently working on new music according to Tri Angle records and collaborations, The Haxan Cloak. Taking to Instagram, they said:

Underrated Classic: The Black Keys 'The Big Come Up'
In the aftermath of The Strokes breaking through, it seemed like garage rock bands were popping up all over the world from Australia's The Vines to Sweden's The Hives to England's Libertines, they took the world by storm but two of the best came from America -- The Black Keys and The White Stripes. In 2002, the duo of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney arrived on the scene with The Big Come Up, a collection of lo-fi blues that challenged the idea that two people are limited to a certain amount of power. With songs like "Leavin' Truck,""Brooklyn Bound" and "I'll Be Your Man," indie audiences around the country rejoiced at these two guys from Ohio and what they were doing. After touring like two animals for years, they became critical and fan favorites over the years. While their sound has evolved in leaps and bounds from what they did 14 years ago, the record never charted but laid the foundation of what these two college dropouts would do for the rest of their lives.

Movie of the Month: 'The Other F Word'
Growing up is inevitable. Like taxes, it is the only constant in life. Now, what happens when those that rebelled about growing older and rebelled against the system become adults themselves? From the punks to other rockers, the brilliant 2011 documentary The Other F Word, follows what life is like when the musicians who still hold onto their youth become fathers themselves. From Mark Hoppus of Blink 182, Fat Mike of NOFX, Flea, Ron Reyes of Black Flag, Tim Armstrong of Rancid, Jim Lindberg of Pennywise and a slew of others, these dads may not have been prepared for fatherhood but they are going to do whatever they can to make sure their child grows up in the best environment. Director Andrea Blaugrund Nevins tells their stories of how they grew up and plan on raising a new generation under their roof. A documentary not to be missed and one to fall in love with time over time.
