Of all the books written on the Rolling Stones, none have looked at the band so introspectively than Rich Cohen's account of the band in their heyday from 1968 to 1972 in The Sun & The Moon & The Rolling Stones. Cohen, who is a writer for Vanity Fair and co-creator of HBO's brilliant but cancelled Vinyl, went on the road with the band and into the recording studio as they recorded Beggars Banquet and Exile on Main Street. In his book, which arrived in paperback in May, Cohen accounts the highs, the lows, bitching, the fights, the excess, and of course the sex, drugs, and rock and roll.

The Sun & The Moon & The Rolling Stones is such a definitive look at the era that shaped the band and the group that they would become. Packed with insights like how Mick Jagger dealt with fame and how the band responded to their growing acclaim as well as how they were masters of their craft. The book is one of a kind from a band whose reputation will never be seen again.

Thursday took to Facebook to post that they will be touring later this year and then eventually head to Europe, however, the post-hardcore icons from New Jersey, who reunited last year, said that they don't know how much longer this will go on. " The problem with nostalgia, and memory in general, is that it's a destructive process. Much like recording over the same cassette, again and again, the quality degrades with each pass. Put in a modern way, our memory is like a hard drive: the more you try to fit on it, the further it compresses, lowering the quality of the new memory and the original experience, too," they wrote in a statement. "Rather than endlessly overwriting the original experiences that we shared with so many of you, we've been discussing how and when to wrap up this trip down memory lane. In the next year, we'll be announcing our international tours as well as a final group of dates in the US, that will be totally unlike anything we've ever attempted to do. Beyond that, we will only return in the event of new music. And new music will only come if we feel it's truly inspired and adds a new dimension to the band. In our humble opinions, there are only a few bands that have put out records worth coming back for. Bands like Portishead and MBV."

U2 are getting their own museum in their hometown of Dublin, Ireland. The proposed four-story building will be on the site of their early recording studio at Windmill Lane. It is unclear as to when the museum, which has been trying to get off the ground since 2002, will open.

 Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood has opened up to The Mail and said that he underwent secret cancer treatment in his lungs earlier this year. Wood, 70, said the cancer was like “a supernova burning away on my left lung… He asked me what I wanted to do and my answer was simple: ‘Just get it out of me.’” Only his closest friends, bandmates and family knew he was battling the disease. He assures fans he is clear now and will resume his role in the group.

Black Grape, a band that features Shaun Ryder of Happy Mondays and Ruthless Rap Assassins’ member, Kermit, will release their first album in over 20 years and will release Pop Voodoo later this year.

This September, The Rolling Stones will release a new album called Rolling Stones: On Air in the Sixties - TV and Radio History as it Happened. The book will chronicle their rise as pop rock darlings on British and American TV in the 60s. The book will also be accompanied by an album, however, it is not said if the record will be songs of the era or new material.

LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy and David Bowie almost recorded an album together. In an interview with BBC Radio 1, Murphy said that he and the Thin White Duke became friends after working together on Arcade Fire's Reflektor and had a relationship over email. Murphy, who worked with Bowie on his album, The Next Day, said: "I reached out to David and said, ‘I’d love to do a record just me and you.' He said, ‘It’s funny you mention that, please look me up when you get back to New York'."  They did meet and Murphy says Bowie had already started working on his final record, Blackstar.

The Verve will rerelease their seminal album, Urban Hymns, this September as a massive expanded set to celebrate the record's 20th anniversary. Take a look at the promo video, below:

Singer Tony Hadley has left Spandau Ballet, again. The group, which reformed in 2014, and have been touring since, say they will continue without their frontman. “Much to our frustration, Tony had made it clear in September 2016 that he didn’t want to work with the band any more. This has not changed and 2015 was the last time we were able to perform or work with him. So we have now made the decision to move on as a band,” the "Gold" band said in a statement on their website. Hadley announced the news via his Twitter page:

It has been 12 years since System of a Down has released a new album and now bassist Shavo Odadjian said during a recent Instagram Q&A that the record may not happen. When asked about a new record, he said: "I know, I’m waiting for a new album too. It’s not happening, I don’t know. I don’t know when it’s gonna be. Not right now.”

Tyler, The Creator, took to Twitter Thursday to announce he will release a new album at the end of the month called, Scum Fuck Flower Boy.

Speaking to BBC 6 Music, Dave Grohl has said that Boyz II Men singer Shawn Stockton appears on the "heaviest" song on the Foo Fighters' upcoming record, Concrete and Gold. He said that he bumped into the R&B singer in a parking lot and asked if he wanted to sing on the record. After he said yes, Stockton also arranged an orchestra for the single.

Underrated Classic: Ronnie Wood 'Gimme Some Neck'

A year after releasing the acclaimed Some Girls, in 1979, just a few years after joining the Rolling Stones, guitarist Ronnie Wood released his third solo album, Gimme Some Neck. With the release of his latest solo offering found the footing he needed to show he can do it all on his own. Wood, who started out in The Faces, was one of England's best blues guitarists and in 1975, he replaced Mick Taylor in the Stones and fit right in. Maybe it was because of the confidence he got from playing with Mick and Keef, his third solo offering arrived and became his best work on his own. Much of the record is actually a Stones record with him fronting the band as Charlie Watts provided drums on most of the album, Keith Richards helped with rhythm guitar, and Mick Jagger sang backing vocals, as well as Bobby Keys playing sax. Gimme Some Neck spent 13 weeks on the Billboard charts and Wood proved to the music world that he could do it on his own --- with a little help of his friends. With the solo record and tour under his belt, which he brought Richards out for as part of his backing band, Wood and the Stones would then return to record Emotional Rescue which was released a year later. Gimme Some Neck proved to be the solo spark and creative vein that needed to be struck in order for both acts to move on.

After 40 years, iconic LA DJ Rodney Bingenheimer aka Rodney on the ROQ will retire. The man helped usher in British music in the United States and has been credited for the success of artists like Coldplay, Sex Pistols, Ramones, Blondie, Duran Duran, Nirvana, No Doubt. He posted on his Facebook page Thursday: "It has been an amazing run, and I will be thanking all of you when I say goodbye to KROQ next week,” he wrote on his Facebook. “I am planning on some special callers and special music as I say a proper goodbye. As this chapter closes, I will be opening another chapter of my rock life soon. I may be done with KROQ, but I am not retiring. I hope you continue to join me on that journey. I have the greatest fans of all time and you’ve made my time at KROQ a fantastic one.”

Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood is recovery after having lung surgery. He is expected to make a full recovery and will be able to tour with the Stones in September.

Speaking to New Zealand radio station Rock FM, Josh Homme discussed the forthcoming Queens of the Stone Age album. “I feel like we’re just leaning on the gate waiting for someone to open that sucker up so we can move,” Homme said. “I think the record feels that way too — it feels uptempo.” He added: “At the end of the day, this is just a musical way to explain a lifetime. So the most important record I’m making is the one I’m working on. For the lack of a better term, I bet my life on it. If you don’t risk anything, you’re not gonna get anything. I don’t want to copy myself, I just want to take another chance at it. It keeps it always exciting that way.” A full release date has not been set.

Roger Waters has confirmed he is working on a new record with Radiohead producer Nigel Goodrich. The record is expected to arrive next year.

Celebrating the release of Be Here Now's 20th anniversary, Noel Gallagher is saying that Oasis should have waited longer to make their third album. He said in a video for the band's VEVO channel: "I only say this now, looking back on it after 20 years.... we should never have made that record then," he admits. "'Cause we came off the back of that American tour which was, again, the third tour in a row that we never completed. And I came back to the airport and the fucking world's press was there and instead of going, 'Right, we should just go our separate ways for a year or two,' we decided like idiots to go straight into the studio. That maybe wasn't the best idea, you know what I mean? 'Cause 'Morning Glory' hadn't really run its course then. It was probably still Number One in England it was definitely still Top Five in the States. And yet, there we were, going into the studio, effectively trying to to make another album to kill it, which was ridiculous."

Led Zeppelin will release / reissue their Live at the BBC sessions in September. The double album will feature the 33-song sessions at the network that were recorded in 1969 and 1971. The album was initially released in 1997, yet, a new disc of eight "lost" songs will be released for the very first time in this new packaging.

Marilyn Manson will release his new album, SAY10, on Valentine's Day next year.

Speaking to Britain's Radio Times, Keith Richards has said that The Rolling Stones will end when they all die. The axeman said: "They’re not really bands if they don’t last; they’re groups. We’re a band and a real band sticks until it dies. These bands, they become big, but they’re generational, just for their one decade. They literally go when their testosterone goes.”

Slayer are teaming up with Dark Horse Comics to release Slayer: Repentlessness Vol.1, a series of graphic novels based around the songs and ideas of the metal legends. It was announced at Comic-Con that they will come out later this year. Guitarist Kerry King told Rolling Stone: "My philosophy as far as anybody working on anything regarding Slayer, be it the album cover art or video concepts, is to let the people who do that for a living do it. That's how we started working with [cover artist] Larry Carroll for Reign in Blood, South of Heaven and Seasons in the Abyss. We gave him song titles, lyrics, just things to put ideas in his head."

Jenny Lewis has teamed up with Au Revoir Simone’s Erika Forster and Tennessee Thomas of The Like to form NAF (Nice As Fuck). The band will be touring through the summer. No word if they are recording.

Speaking to fans on Twitter, Marina & The Diamonds announced they are going on hiatus. Singer Marina Diamondis said: "It feels very bittersweet ending this era, because I've enjoyed it so much, and it's been so helpful for me creatively. It's been an absolute dream. I achieved so many things that I've been trying to for many years. Now, I'm gonna take a little break to do some different things. I've been on the road for seven years. I've had an amazing, amazing experience. This isn't goodbye for good, it's just for a short while."

Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood has confirmed that a new Stones record is on it's way. Speaking to Rolling Stone, he said: "We went in to cut some new songs, which we did. But we got on a blues streak. We cut 11 blues in two days. They are extremely great cover versions of Howlin' Wolf and Little Walter, among other blues people. But they really sound authentic… When we heard them back after not hearing them for a couple of months, we were, 'Who's that? It's you.' It sounded so authentic."

The Black and The White, which features former As Tall As Lions members Cliff Sarcona and Julio Tavarez will release a new EP, My Heart is Compromised, later this month.

Ending a long Twitter silence, Q-Tip took to the social media to address the passing of his friend, brother and Tribe Called Quest member Phife Dawg, who passed away on March 22 due to diabetes complications. Tip tweeted:

According to The Mirror, The Stone Roses will release their third album this summer as they embark on a tour. The Manchester legends will be playing various parts of the UK and Europe as well as New York City. No official word from the band has been announced. Stay tuned...

Motion City Soundtrack are calling it quits after almost 18 years. In a press statement, the band said: "It has been a quiet winter for us. We’ve had some time at home after a very busy 2015. With this time, we've been able to think about the past, present, and future of Motion City Soundtrack. All of this thinking has lead to several conversations, and these conversations have lead us to a very bittersweet realization: We have no idea what the future holds, but for now we are done. Needless to say, we’re feeling all the feels - you may be as well. If so, or if you’ve ever been touched by our music, we ask you to come out and sing along with us one last time in 2016."

President Obama said he is a big fan of J. Cole thanks to his daughters. The Commander-In-Chief said: "I Love J. Cole!" at a Democratic fundraising event at SXSW.

Former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The axe man is reportedly expected to make a full recovery. We wish him the best.

Kendrick Lamar's producer Soundwave has confirmed that more unreleased material from the "Alright" rapper is going to be arriving. He told Complex: "We have a lot of records, especially from this album. There are still records people haven’t heard, mainly because we can’t get sample clearances. Those songs were ones that we really loved and were hurt that we couldn’t put them on the album. They also have important messages in them, so Kendrick wanted to share those messages with the world. Why not share these records?"

Q-Tip has been named the Kennedy Center's first-ever Artistic Director for Hip-Hop Culture. In a statement he said: "With hip-hop constantly changing and evolving, it is easy to forget the history and legacy that precede it. I want to begin at the beginning of the Culture to help people see its roots, better understand its present, and responsibly create its future."

The classic lineup of D Generation featuring Jesse Malin, Danny Sage, Howie Pyro, Michael Wildwood and Richard Bacchus have reformed and are currently in the studio working on a new album that will be due out later this year.

Speaking to 1X, Anderson .Paak has said that Dr. Dre is working on new music. He said: "He's working right now, doing a lot of work right now, I can't really speak on it. It was so quick [recording with Dre], 80/90 percent of what I did was used and then it was out. That's not usually the case with Dre. A lot of people who work with Dre, you're lucky if anything sees the light of day. It was a blessing to have all that stuff go to market at the pace it did. It's cool to be able to work with him at this place in his career when he's just ready to go."

Kamasi Washington spoke to Rolling Stone about the follow-up to last year's brilliant, The Epic, saying: "In my mind, I have plans for more large-ensemble stuff: doing some brass ensembles and not just things with the choir. … It's hard to say exactly; it's all in my head right now. … I've been messing around with recording myself over and over again. Like a 32-piece saxophone thing. Just for a demo, for a song. And I'm like, 'Hey, that sounds cool. Maybe it's something I want to do for real.'"

It has now been over two weeks since David Bowie passed away and still tributes are pouring in from fans, friends and famous faces. Bowie's legacy is left within his music and talents but those that knew him best share a different side and stories of what the public didn't know.

Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger reflected on his friendship with The Thin White Duke for an upcoming issue of Rolling Stone. Jagger said: "There was always an exchange of information within our friendship. And I suppose there was always an element of competition between us, but it never felt overwhelming. When he'd come over, we'd talk about our work — a new guitarist, a new way of writing, style and photographers. We had a lot in common in wanting to do big things onstage — using interesting designs, narratives, personalities." Jagger added: "He had a chameleon-like ability to take on any genre, always with a unique take, musically and lyrically."

In the same issue, Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor, who famously toured with Bowie in the 90s and worked with him on his Outside and Earthlings records said: "It feels like the loss of a mentor, fatherly figure, someone looking out for you, reminding you that in a world where the bar keeps seeming to be lower, where stupidity has got a foothold, there is room for excellence and uncompromising vision." He added that it was Bowie who helped him get sober, saying:
"There were a number of times where the two of us were alone, and he said some things that weren't scolding, but pieces of wisdom that stuck with me: "You know, there is a better way here, and it doesn't have to end in despair or in death, in the bottom."

Speaking to Vulture, Interpol's Paul Banks discussed how Bowie helped young musicians. He said: "

Long-term, it just kind of said, Bowie was awesome. Bowie stayed involved, and he went out of his way to support young artists, as we’ve seen after he came to our show. I just think that it’s cool, the same way that Elton John seems to be super up on new music. Bowie was an artist all the way, and a generous one who liked to tell other artists that he was a supporter. That was such a great gift for someone of his caliber to give to a young band."

Michael C. Hall, who just finished playing Lazarus in Bowie's stage adaptation of his film, The Man Who Fell to Earth, which was off-Broadway, spoke to Billboard about how it was to work and learn from him as an actor. He said: "To play that role and to take part in telling that story and helping to create something that was in the final chapter of Bowie's artistic output, it was really incredible."

Keith Richards has confirmed that The Rolling Stones will record a new record. He spoke to The Quietus and said: "Yes! We must go in the studio! I was at a meeting with the lads three or four days ago where everybody said, 'Yes! We must go in the studio! Where or when I can’t yet say but in the near future. At last I’ve got the boys wanting to get into the studio. They all have to want to do it at the same time. That’s the thing with guys – you can’t drag 'em in at gunpoint – but I’ve got the message that they want to. I’m hopeful, y’know?"

Rihanna has confirmed to NME that her new album isn't finished but it will be "something great" for fans when it arrives. A time frame as to when the record will come out is also unknown.

Benga formerly of Magnetic Man and Skream and Benga has confirmed via Twitter that the real reason he retired from music was not to start a family, like he suggested last year but instead it was due to his bipolar disorder. He said:

Who wants to do my lead interview on my mental health issue I would like to get this heard now. I'm asked so much about my retirement. 💫🙌

Gorillaz artist Jamie Hewelett will feature his work in a new gallery exhibit called "The Suggestionist" in London beginning next month at the Saachi Gallery.

Underworld will reissue their album, Second Toughest in the Infants, in November. The reissue was remastered at Abbey Road and will feature the remastered LP, along with remixes, B-sides, unreleased tracks and a 60-page booklet.

Ride will reissue their 1990 album, Nowhere, as a CD/DVD featuring the remastered album and a DVD of a 1991 London gig. The reissue comes out in November.

Is Nas going to release The Lost Tapes 2 next year? Mass Appeal CEO Peter Bittbender spoke to The Drip and mentioned that it will be coming. He said: "Nas is working to deliver this next record to Def Jam, which will be his last [for them]. I haven’t been too involved in that, so I can’t tell you when it’s coming. Once that’s out, then Lost Tapes will follow shortly after. It’ll definitely be a 2016 release, hopefully earlier in the year than later. The music’s amazing. It carries on what he built with the first Lost Tapes. The fans are gonna love it."

Underrated Classic: The Rolling Stones 'Their Satanic Majesties Request'

By the end of the 1960's, The Rolling Stones grew out of their rhythm and blues / skiff rock roots and turned into the chemical influenced sounds of psychedelica. This all came to a head in 1967 with the release of Their Satanic Majesties Request. The album, which drew mixed reactions when released, featured the band dressed as wizards in a 3-D cover sitting on a magic carpet. This was not The Stones fans had grown to love, this was a whole new band. Working with new instruments like a Mellotrone, sampling sounds from short wave radios and hiring Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones to craft the string arraignments, this record was far beyond and far out anything fans had heard at the time. It was also a record that took The Stones exploring to new themes. They tried to outdo The Beatles' sounds on Sgnt. Pepper, while they failed at competing with The Fab Four, they did craft a new mark in their own catalog. While it may not be the go-to Stones record for fans or was celebrated when released, it did help create the blueprint to psychedelic rock for generations to come. Put this record on and you will hear a clear influence it had on The Flaming Lips, Tame Impala, Portugal. The Man, Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger, and others.

UK band Brother aka Brother UK aka Viva Brother seem to be making a comeback. The gritpop band split up in 2012 after releasing one record, appear to have live dates on their Facebook page and are reuniting. They band apparently finished recording their second record before breaking up but never released it, no word if that will arrive now.

Keith Richards will release his first solo album in over 20 years called Crosseyed Heart in September via Republic. Richards is currently on the road with The Rolling Stones.

Warren G will release a new EP next month called Regulate...G Funk Era Part II. It is the long awaited sequel to his classic 1994 album. The EP will feature unreleased recordings from the late Nate Dogg as well as contributions from Young Jeezy, Bun B, Too $hort, and E-40. Take a look at the cover, below:

This month Bon Iver will close out the Eaux Claires Music & Arts Festival that he curated with The National's Aaron Dessner and in a recent interview with Grantland, Bon Iver main man Justin Vernon says he is not sure he will continue on the moniker that gained him acclaim. He said, "I definitely care about the Bon Iver thing a lot, but it’s kind of my thing and there’s only so much time you can spend with yourself before you just become an asshole. So you gotta push it. As far as putting a record together, I don’t really know what’s happening. Our show is our main focus. We don’t have anything booked after this. We don’t have any plans. We’re not being secretive — we just don’t have any plans. It’s just about, Play the show and put all of our energy into one show — for once in my life, let’s just play one fucking show and care just about this one show for a goddamn change."

Speaking to NME, Johnny Marr said he is taking a break from music to focus on writing his untitled autobiography which is due next year. The former Smiths guitarist said, "I always knew it was going to be a matter of downing tools to get the book done. You can’t write a book backstage with soundcheck going on. The important thing is that the people who like what I do still like me the same once they know everything. I take writing seriously, but I also want it to be entertaining, because I don’t want to be too self-important or pompous.”

In a recent Twitter Q&A Robyn addressed a fans question about a new album and she said it is being written and not sure when it will be done. She said:
