Peter Hook Presents "Closer"

Former Joy Division and New Order bassist Peter Hook will take his latest band and project The Light back to the stages to perform Joy Division's second masterpiece live in concert. Hook, who toured in 2009 and 2010 with The Light brought Unknown Pleasures to stages around the world and will now be doing it with his iconic band's second release. On May 18 at The Factory in his hometown on Manchester, England, Closer will come to life.

Just a few weeks prior to what will be a spectacular show, Hook and The Light will release their debut EP via his Hacienda Records on May 2. The four song EP will feature an unreleased Joy Division song, "Pictures in my Mind," which will feature Hook on vocal duties. The other three songs will feature Rowetta of Happy Monday's on vocal duty. Here is the track listing to the EP:

1 “Pictures In My Mind” (vocals by Peter Hook)
2“Insight”, (vocals by Rowetta)
3. “New Dawn Fades” (vocals by Rowetta)
4. “Atmosphere” (vocals by Rowetta)

In a press statement, Hook discusses recording "Pictures in my Mind" and says:

“I have found that to true, there are tracks that we finished as Joy Division that we felt weren't our best, but people come to you and say “The Drawback,” Oh I love that tune it changed my life, why didn’t you put it on the record?”, “Ice Age” the same thing "Exercise one" why wasn’t it on Unknown Pleasures?”, So the thing is Ian was right and I thought when I heard it last year, I thought it would be a good way to celebrate old material and do some new material! I thought I’d finish off for the simple reason that I liked the song and I wanted to do what Ian asked us to do. So this is my interpretation of that song”.
