Great Soundtracks - Once

As the holidays always signify the sharing of love and joy with friends, family and loved ones, it also brings in another event - the home stretch of the best films of the year. In 2007, the film Once became the little engine that could. A small, low budget love story that featured Glen Hansard of The Frames and Czech singer Markéta Irglová and showed how a modern day love story should be. The film, which received rave reviews across the globe, also brought attention to the films real star - the music. Combining Irish folk and rock, Once gave a new spin on what a movie musical should be.
The music even gained the films stars a Oscar® thanks to the song "Falling Slowly," and helped spawn their group, The Swell Season to headlining massive venues around the globe like the Chicago Theater and Radio City Music Hall.

While Once maybe the unofficial first album from The Swell Season, it is the bench mark that brought modern storytelling through song to new standards. Now, the music of Once takes on a whole new life as it is performed each night on The Great White Way on Broadway in the TONY Award winning musical of the same name.
