Alt-J have won the prestigious Barclay's Mercury Prize in the UK. The award is for the "Best British Album" released during the year.

For three weeks this summer, Blur put on "The Blur 21 Exhibition" and  took over the Londonewcastle Project Space in London's Shoreditch. Exhibiting over 70 images together for the first time to celebrate the band's 21 year career, now, since many fans were unable to travel far and wide to see the exhibit, the band are posting it digitally. Johnny Marr has dished out some news about his debut solo record, The Messenger. The legendary guitarist told NME, "I didn't want to be in someone else's band at this point. In the past I might have been reluctant to stand up front, and I've been lucky enough to be in bands with great singers, so it wasn't necessary. But this is my band now, and the frontman in my band has to play guitar. I do both." The Messenger arrives sometime next year.
