U2 will be awarded the Sonny Bono Visionary Award at this weekend's Palm Springs Film Festival. The band will take the top honors thanks to their song, "Ordinary Love" from the Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom soundtrack. The award usually goes to a filmmaker, however, because of the band's activism and the inspired life of Nelson Mandela, the festival is awarding it to the Irish rockers.

Jimi Hendrix's former London flat will be turned into a museum. A £1.2 million grant has allowed the UK's Heritage Lottery Fund to recreate the interior of the iconic guitarist's former flat, where he lived during the summer of 1968 and beyond. He lived in the attic of the house which is located at 23 Brook Street in London. Hendrix, who was with then girlfriend Kathy Etchingham in the house, £30 a week to live there.

Queen guitarist Brian May has been undergoing urgent test's for cancer. May wrote on his website, "So around Christmas I've been having a succession of blood tests, ultrasounds, and various kinds of scans, to see if they could rule out various kinds of cancer. Now, on hearing the 'C' word something happens inside you ... of course. I've seen so many of my dear friends fighting it ... and my Dad lost his battle at age 66, exactly the age I am now. So over the last few days I've been in various states of unrest. But the great thing has been that the team my GP assembled to check out the possibilities has moved Heaven and Earth to gather all the information I need quickly over the Christmas period ... not an easy time." We wish him the very best.
