Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton has declared June 7, Prince's birthday, "Prince Day" throughout the state. In a statement he said: "Minnesotans are encouraged to wear purple on Prince Day in honor of The Purple One's enduring legacy.”

President Obama has declared June "African-American Music Appreciation Month" across the country. In a statement he said African-American music is "a vital part of our Nation's proud heritage, African-American music exemplifies the creative spirit at the heart of American identity and is among the most innovative and powerful art the world has ever known."

AC/DC's Brian Johnson said he is ready to roar back on stage and is testing a new hearing device that will possibly allow him to do so. In a statement on Ambrose's Facebook page, the manufacturer of the device, the singer said: "It WORKS. It just totally works and you can’t argue with that. I was really moved and amazed to be able to hear music again like I haven’t heard for several years now. I can’t wait for it to be mini[a]turized so I can use it in every situation from normal communication, going out to noisy restaurants, to performing live music on stage.” Johnson has been sidelined since last year due to hearing loss, Axl Rose has been filling in for him for live concerts.

The vaults of David Bowie could soon be opened. Longtime Bowie producer and friend, Tony Visconti told the Evening Standard that: "I think it’s logical that over the next few years, you’re going to hear a lot of stuff that you haven’t heard before. I'’m in talks with his management and his label — there’s going to be some great Bowie stuff coming out.”
