Metallica could be releasing their long awaited 10th album in October. German newspaper, Bild, revealed the alleged release date as October 14, however, the band's distributor, Universal Music, has not given an official confirmation.

Leave it up to The Flaming Lips to release a $125 bottle of Whiskey. The Oklahoma band are collaborating with Few Spirits to distribute the bottles, which will be limited to 5,000 made. In a press release, singer Wayne Coyne said: "Whiskey... it's such a volatile drink. Upon pouring a drink It's like accepting that you may become a werewolf ... And really... Who doesn't want to become a werewolf ??? Ha..."

Prince's former band, The Revolution, have confirmed they will play at First Avenue, the Minneapolis venue made famous in Purple Rain as their first reunion show. The band will play a pair of shows there in September.

Taking to Facebook, Brainfeeder has confirmed that Thundercat will release a new album this year. No word as to when it will arrive or what it is called.

Speaking of Brainfeeder, Flying Lotus will be launching a films division of his music company as the beatmaker and musician looks to venture into producing motion pictures and directing.

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez is a musical machine and the guitar hero will be releasing a dozen albums this year via Ipecac Recordings beginning on July 15. The albums have been unreleased and recorded between 2008-2013 when the Mars Volta / At The Drive-In / Bosnian Rainbows axeman lived in Mexico. Here are the list and release dates of the LP's below:
