On Friday night, Dave Grohl debuted the Sound City Players, his new music supergroup at the opening of the Sundance Film Festival. Grohl, who released his directorial debut, a documentary on the iconic California recording studio, Sound City. He kicked off the films premiere with a three-and-a-half hour set with the Sound City players that included members of Foo Fighters, Brad Wilk, Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty, Krist Novoselic, Corey Taylor, Rick Neilson, Alain Johannes, and Chris Goss.

Year after year the people there are always swirling rumors that The Smiths will reunite for Coachella. This years rumor included that Morrissey and Johnny Marr were offered lucrative deals to perform together but were both denied. The festival bosses are still persistant and asked about reforming The Smiths for this years desert festival and in a statement from Morrissey's camp, "Morrissey has refused a Smiths headline offer for this year's Coachella Festival."

Actor Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood, Little Miss Sunshine) has been casted as Brian Wilson in an upcoming Beach Boys biopic.

Jack White's Third Man Records is teaming with obscure Scottish record label, Document Records to release the remastered works of Charley Patton, Blind Willie McTell and the Mississippi Sheiks on vinyl.
