Quick News

U2's The Edge Music Rising foundation, a charity he started after Hurricane Katrina to give musicians who lost their tools in the devastation instruments to continue to perform, has donated $250,000 toward the same idea in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

Speaking of U2, a close friend of Bono's and son of John Lennon, Julian, recently spoke to The Irish Daily Star about the singers eyesight, which for many years has been a problem and is the reason the Irish rocker wears his signature shades. Lennon said,"Bono actually has a condition with his eyes. I don't know the exact issue but the brightness of the sun hurts them and it's a deteriorating issue." No word on Bono on the issue.

After years of recording and waiting, iconic Britpop band, Suede will release their new album Bloodsports in March. It is the bands first album of new material in 11 years.

Also releasing a new record in March are Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. The band gave some insight to Rolling Stone and singer Robert Levon Been said, "We always were fans of Pink Floyd and Spiritualized records. As far as real albums where we wanted to attempt to take people on a ride and have songs crossfade and reach over and different tricks we'd always wanted to do, it was kind of fun to get to play around with that."

The current road dogs of rock, The Black Keys, are itching to make their new album. Speaking to Uncut magazine, singer Dan Auerbach said, "We're going to start making the new album in the second week of January and we're hoping to have it done by some time in March. Then we have a couple of weeks of touring, then we're going to take the summer off, which we haven't done for a while. The record isn't written yet, we'll do it when we get into the studio. This is when we both work best, when we're dying to make an album. All of our records take place in the studio, in that we make stuff up while we're there."

Perry Farrell is doing something he has never done before....working on a musical. The iconic frontman and founder of Lollapalooza told Prefix magazine, "My next project is that I'm working on a play, it's a musical. But it's going to be immersive theatre. It's not going to be in a theatre, I'm going to create an environment and the music will be within that environment, and Jane's Addiction will be within that environment."
