Speaking to Billboard magazine, Andre 3000 has said he will be making a solo record but has not started it. The rapper said, "I haven’t even started on [it]. I’ve got to find something I’m excited about. To be clear there is no retirement."

R.E.M. are working with MTV and will release a 6-DVD retrospective of the band's entire catalog of performances on the channel called R.E.MTV. The massive set will be out in November.

Carl Barat has announced this his new band, The Jackals will release their debut album early next year. The band formed after Barat posted a series of ads online looking for musicians last year. In a press release, Barat said, "I actually started making this record solo, but the long and short of it is I just didn’t like my own company. I was lucky, because I found a bunch of people who genuinely fit together as a gang."
